Hello everyone. I just discovered this forum yesterday, and am delighted to learn I am not the only devoted fan of this series. I have it on VHS tape from it's one and only U.S. airing back in the 80's, and watch it at least once every year. I am a huge fan of Delderfield and all his work. Nice to meet all of you. John

Hi John, Great to have you on board. I hope you have your VHS tape backed up to DVD? Video copies of this series are rarer than hen's teeth! I am thinking of attempting a restoration on the series, to clear up some of the picture, sound, colour, sharpness and contrast. This can only be done by using two or more independent copies and enhancing and overlaying the best parts of each. Would you please be able to make your copy available to me for this purpose? I am prepared to pay you for the trouble. In the meantime, please be extremely careful with those tapes. They are more valuable than gold! I once had a foreign subtitled movie on VHS tape and my machine decided to eat it one day. I then learnt that the film had never been released with the subtitles! So it is gone forever. I am very pleased that you found us and once again I extend a very warm welcome to you. Ian

Lovely to see you here. If you wish to take part in the restoration Ian speaks of, I will be happy to defray some of the costs - shipping, insurance, etc. Let's make it happen!

I am hoping this is not another dead end. I notice that niterace only posted once on the forum and although he replied to my initial email I have heard nothing from him since August. I would advise people not to offer to send money to anyone who they do not know personally, at least not until they can be provided with some proof that what they are funding actually exists.
