Very pleased to find this forum. The series "Diana" remains vividly in my memory. Good to hear other peoples' interesting anecdotes of the series. An enthralling adaptation. The question remains why we remember such a poignant series so well? Seen once only, strong reactions from everyone here show that they have kept the story wonderfully alive. The beauty of special Landscape indelibly imprints a deep response within us. A recapture of early love and passion with all its pain, joy and twisted endurances are a reflection of reality for humans everywhere. The actors were exceptional. Jenny Seagrove showed that women could be duplicitous yet strong enough to test life fully. She was luminous in her role. Kevin's angst for fulfillment was cut more deeply by passions of the heart. Another board for Jenny Seagrove with a clip of the farewell 'folly' scene can be found here. everythingjennyseagrove.blogspot.com/ everythingjennyseagrove.blogspot.com/2011/11/clip-of-jenny-seagrove-in-diana.html"This is your Life" episode of Jenny Seagrove with Michael Aspel from 2002 is on Youtube. Her brother David, sister-in-law Annabelle & her 3 nieces were present. They all live in Sydney, Australia or resided there in 2002. More people joining to share their response to the series would interest many of us, I'm sure. The ABC broadcast in OZ in 1984/5 was widely appreciated by a broad majority as were other British TV productions of that era. Thank you for a great forum. Emerald.

Hello everyone. I'm also from South Australia, (Semaphore) and have been a fan of 'Diana' & the other Delderfield novels & adaptations for many years. Happy New Year to you all!

Lark, good to see you have taken the plunge to join us.
Adelaide has an extensive English Lit. / Arts festival & cultural affiliation closely aligned to English writers. A southern English heritage is well represented here. Delderfield may have a larger than expected fan base in these locales. Last chapters of Delderfield’s autobiography are being read at the moment. Will share comments on his thread here shortly.

Greetings, Lark and Emerald. Your names are most suitable! I think one of the the things that made this series so special was the sincerity and commitment put into it. The special intimacy - and the chemistry of the two pairs of stars. The underlying story was good - but the composition of an arc that carries us with two very special people made it shine. The purely emotional, haunting quality of it all - someone on livejournal.com who wrote about it put it into the category of "erotic enthrallment" - and that is very apt. The sure sense of *location* too ... ever after, Devon has remained a sort of paradise in my mind. Greetings from California.

Thank you for the friendly greeting, fuguewriter. Appreciate your response & reciprocate warmly.
I very much like your comments highlighting the intimate chemistry struck by certain actors.
Their fusing, reflects rivers of inner mythology surging within us all. We become joined at the hip with them & no permit for easy disengagement seems allowed. Someone once said that erotic enthrallment is ‘the’ addictive narcotic of all time. It is a ploy of the universe for its own continuance to lure us with the voice of wild nature, within & without.
You are right, the Devon paradise of the series reminds me of an archetypal feminine nature, lost to our modern society & for which we ardently feel a great longing. Unspoiled landscape.
The series “ Diana “ has captured that essence of right nurture awaiting our reconnection. I think people on this forum possibly recognise this.
