Would anyone have the BBC single of the Diana soundtrack? It was apparently released while the series was running, but I cannot recall ever seeing any on the shelves of our local music stores in 1984-5. I assume it was a 45 RPM, but could be wrong.

Yes Ian it was released as a 7" single while the series ran during Jan/Feb/Mar of 84, It never reached the UK charts and I supose thats what makes it quite rare, I was lucky enough to see one which is owned by a gentleman who lives near Manchester (who will be joining us soon to this forum) It has Kevin & Jenny on the cover, I will let you know if I hear anything

Thanks Joe. I found one online before I saw your post. It shows on most search engines, but only if you type in "Stanley Myers" and "Diana". I found a couple listed. As you say, it is quite rare. The website peterice.com has still got one copy available for £3 plus postage. Unfortunately they have a minimum order of £20.

Interesting stuff. I have just ordered the single from a company called musicstack.com and they are sending it to me for about $11 When I have it I will record it for anyone who wants it (MP3 or WAVE) There are Stanley Meyers CDs available which include the 'Diana' theme but they are either unavailable or verrrrrry expensive. to be continued.....

Hi Fred, My copy is coming from Vinyl in the Attic, which is also through Music Stack. They told me they only had one in stock! So I wonder if they will send us each half a record? Maybe one of us will get the cover and the other will get the vinyl. They probably have quite a few in stock if the truth be known. I can also do an MP3 transfer on to CD if anyone wants one. Not sure where you are located Fred, but I can handle all Asia/Pacific/Australia/NZ requests. If you're in the UK, we'll have to toss for any US requests! I think I saw some CD transfers of the Diana theme advertised on Amazon. They were RIDICULOUSLY expensive.

Hi Ian,
I'm from the Netherlands. I've just paid for the record, so I expect it to arrive soon. I'll let you know once it's arrived.

Hi Fred, Sorry, I forgot that you mentioned your location in your introduction. My single turned up this morning! I can't believe it got here so fast, from UK to Australia in a few days! The cover photo was a surprise. I was expecting to see the same one that appeared on the front cover of the novel (as shown on top lower right thumbnail on this forum's header). But it is VERY different and was no doubt designed for instant commercial appeal. I like it! Now to play the record... Ian Added this comment 11 Feb 09: Photos of front & back cover. Jenny and Kevin look very cool, serious, and suave in this shot! They could pass for actors from a police drama. Was this the only cover or were their alternative covers printed? Was it released as a cassette single also, or only 7" record?

Mine arrived yesterday (Fr 13!!) and sounds very good. Same cover, old-fashioned BBC quality record. I have recorded it onto my computer and cleaned it up slightly (removed the few clicks that were on it). If anyone is interested in receiving an MP3 version, let me know.

The photo in question of Kevin and Jenny Seagrove was the same one that appeared in , or was even on the front cover of the Radio Times when the serial ( as we brits called it way back then) was shown on BBC .

Thanks elisa, It must have been inside the cover, as I asked some people who collect Radio Times and they can't find it on the cover of any edition from 1984. Are you sure it was RT? It may have been on the cover of another TV guide. RT does seem like the logical place though, as Diana was a BBC show. Perhaps there was only an article inside and no cover photo? I'll do some more digging. Ian

I've decided to move the Radio Times discussion to a new thread so that it is in a more appropriate category (tidy housekeeper that I am! ). So for posting messages about Radio Times and other articles click on the following link. www.dianaforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=web&action=display&thread=38Posts to do with the single can still be placed here in "The long Lost Single" thread.
